About the treatment

Making the transition from your natural teeth to a full denture is a significant step. That is why we discuss every stage of the treatment with you in advance, so you know exactly what to expect on the day of the procedure.

Your first consultation will take place with one of our denture technicians in collaboration with your dentist. Using a panoramic dental X-ray, we assess the condition of your teeth and you will also attend a consultation with the oral surgeon.

Approximately two weeks before the treatment, impressions of your upper and lower jaws are taken. As every smile is unique, we will also choose the most suitable tooth colour for your denture together with you. This allows us to have everything prepared for the treatment day.

On the day your denture is made, you will spend most of the day at our practice. In the morning, your teeth will be removed by the oral surgeon. We will then begin creating your denture using the impressions taken during your previous appointment.

A wax model is made, into which the denture technician carefully positions the teeth one by one. You can discuss your preferences regarding the colour, shape and position of the teeth. By trying in the denture and making small adjustments along the way, it gradually takes its final form. This stage usually takes approximately two to three hours.

Together with you and your dentist, we will then assess the appearance and fit of the trial denture. Any final adjustments can still be made at this stage. Once you are happy with the result, your denture will be completed. This process also takes approximately two to three hours.

While you wait, you are welcome to make use of our complimentary Wi-Fi, coffee and tea. By the end of the day, you will leave with a new smile and a carefully fitted denture designed to provide improved comfort, stability and chewing function.

You will return the following day for a check-up, and we will schedule the appointments needed to adjust the fit of your denture as your mouth heals.

After approximately two months, a temporary soft lining will be placed inside the denture to improve the fit while your jaw continues to heal.

After approximately four months, we will see you again to adjust the denture to the changes in the shape of your jaw. This procedure is known as relining.

The treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel any pain while your teeth are being extracted. Once the anaesthetic wears off, you may experience some soreness or tenderness, which is a normal part of the healing process.

Yes. An immediate denture can be made for either the upper or the lower jaw.

Your denture should be cleaned carefully every day. If it is not cleaned regularly, plaque and bacteria can build up and may cause irritation or inflammation of the gums.

Clean your denture with a denture brush, water and a mild soap. Do not use toothpaste on the denture, as it can be abrasive and may damage the surface. If preferred, you can also use a cleaning product specifically designed for dentures.

To keep your gums healthy, gently brush them with a soft toothbrush and a small amount of toothpaste.

The teeth are extracted and the denture is fitted on the same day. The full treatment process, including preparation and follow-up care, involves several appointments.
